Ian Happ Back In The Outfield Sunday
3 years agoChicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ (elbow) is starting in left field and batting eighth in the Cactus League game on Sunday against the Kansas City Royals. Happ has only been serving as the designated hitter this spring after having right elbow surgery in February, but he's clearly made progress as we approach Opening Day. He should open the regular season with a starting job in the outfield, barring any setbacks. The 27-year-old hit .288/.363/.581 with 15 home runs, 40 RBI and eight steals in the final 55 games last year after a slow start, and he has the upside to hit 20-plus home runs and steal 10-15 bases for fantasy managers. Happ won't truly break out, though, unless he lowers his career strikeout rate of 30.8%.
