3 years agoCarolina Hurricanes forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi had an unfortunate ending to his night in Monday's 6-1 win over Washington as he suffered a lower-body injury in the dying seconds of the game. He was hit by Washington's Lars Eller and appeared to have hurt his left leg. It's likely Kotkaniemi will miss an extended period of time. "I don't know the extent, but it's not good," said Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour after the game. "He's injured. I don't know how bad, but he's definitely going to be out." Kotkaniemi, who signed an eight-year extension with Carolina on Mar. 21, picked up his 26th point of the campaign in the big win via an assist.
