3 years agoSan Francisco Giants infielder Tommy La Stella (Achilles) will make his spring training debut on Tuesday as the designated hitter in the Cactus League game against the San Diego Padres. La Stella had surgery on his Achilles last fall and has been rehabbing ever since, but he's made good progress this spring and is ready to give it a go. The 33-year-old left-handed hitter could be ready by Opening Day if he doesn't have any setbacks, although the Giants could choose to ease him in at the beginning of the season. La Stella played in 76 games in his first year with the team in 2021, hitting .250/.308/.405 with seven home runs and 27 RBI in 242 plate appearances. He could see a little more time at third base to open the season with Evan Longoria (finger) set to open on the injured list.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
