Seahawks Have High Hopes For Geno Smith
3 years agoSeattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said the team has high hopes for free-agent quarterback Geno Smith. Smith knows the Seahawks offense well, and Carroll thinks he has a competitive opportunity for the starting job in 2022 if he re-signs with the team. The 31-year-old veteran started three games for the Seahawks last year when Russell Wilson was injured, and he could compete with Drew Lock for the starting gig under center if the team is able to bring him back. In his four games played in 2021, Smith was decent but nothing special, completing 68.4% of his passes for 702 yards, five touchdowns and one interception. If he returns to Seattle and is starting in 2022, Smith will be a low-end QB2 with very limited upside.
