3 years agoPittsburgh Pirates third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes (ankle) suffered a minor right ankle sprain several days ago in batting practice and won't play for a "brief period of time." Hayes will continue all baseball activities besides running. It doesn't sound like an overly serious injury, so the 25-year-old should be ready to play on Opening Day as long as he doesn't have any setbacks in camp. He missed time last year due to a wrist injury and finished with a .257/.316/.373 slash line, six home runs, 38 RBI, 49 runs scored and nine stolen bases in 396 plate appearances over 96 games in his second major league season.
