Trevor Story Likely To Hit Sixth This Year
3 years agoBoston Red Sox second baseman Trevor Story is likely to hit sixth in his first season with the team, a spot in the order he hasn't hit in since 2018. Outfielder Enrique Hernandez will likely lead off, followed by Rafael Devers, Xander Bogaerts, J.D. Martinez and Alex Verdugo against right-handed starters. Devers' career OPS in the two-hole is .911, better than any other spot in the lineup. Against lefties, he'll drop lower in the order, potentially to cleanup. Story is a candidate to his second against southpaws. A lower spot in the order will mean fewer at-bats for Story, but he'll also have plenty of chances to drive in runs in Boston's potent lineup, and manager Alex Cora will give him more free reign on the base paths. Despite leaving Coors Field, Story will still be a top-five fantasy shortstop in 2022.
