Panthers Could Take Quarterback At No. 6 Overall
3 years agoCarolina Panthers general manager Scott Fitterer hinted that the team could take a quarterback with the No. 6 overall pick in next month's draft. "This will be interesting because the tackles will be the best players on the board. But we do need a quarterback, and at some point you have to take a shot, especially in the top 10. You hate to force it, because when you force it, you could make a mistake," Fitterer said. With no picks in the second, third or fourth rounds, it makes it even more plausible that Carolina could reach a bit and go with a QB early in the first round after failing to land Deshaun Watson. Pittsburgh's Kenny Pickett could be the consensus top QB in this draft class, and if the Panthers were to draft him, he could compete with Sam Darnold for the starting job in 2022.
