Jacob deGrom Unlikely To Start Season Opener
3 years agoThere is no update on New York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom's (shoulder) status, but with right shoulder tightness reported so close to the start of the regular season, the belief is that he's unlikely to start on Opening Day. deGrom reported some shoulder tightness while throwing on Thursday and was sent for an MRI exam on Friday while being scratched from his scheduled Grapefruit League appearance. The 33-year-old right-hander is one of the best pitchers in the game, but he also dealt with elbow issues in 2021 that limited him to 15 starts. The two-time Cy Young winner and four-time All-Star has became an injury risk as a top-tier fantasy starter until we find out more on the specifics of his shoulder ailment.
