Riley Greene Injured Friday
3 years agoDetroit Tigers outfield prospect Riley Greene left the Grapefruit League game against the New York Yankees early on Friday with an undisclosed injury. Greene was seen limping down the right field line with a trainer while heading to the locker room, but it's unclear exactly what the injury is. The 21-year-old has been stating his case to be on Detroit's Opening Day roster this spring, but this injury could end his chances and cause him to begin the season in the minor leagues. The No. 5 overall prospect in baseball, per MLB Pipeline, had a triple off starter Gerrit Cole in the game before departing. Greene, a left-handed hitter, should eventually be the team's starting center fielder, and he has raw power and a mature approach at the plate.
