Kyle Lewis Ready To Play In Games
3 years agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Kyle Lewis (knee) is ready to start serving as the designated hitter in minor league games, and there's a chance he could get into a Cactus League game before camp ends next week. Lewis ran the bases on Friday. The 26-year-old has been brought along slowly this spring after he missed most of last season due to knee surgery. There's a good chance that he won't be ready for the start of the regular season next week, but Lewis may not miss much time to open 2022. Lewis won the American League Rookie of the Year award in 2020 but played in just 36 games last year before suffering a knee injury. He hit .246/.333/.392 with five home runs and 11 RBI in 147 plate appearances last year.
