3 years agoLos Angeles Angels manager Joe Maddon officially named left-hander Reid Detmers as the team's No. 6 starter on Friday. He'll follow Shohei Ohtani, Patrick Sandoval, Noah Syndergaard, Jose Suarez and Michael Lorenzen in the rotation. The 22-year-old southpaw made five starts in his rookie season and struggled to the tune of a 7.40 ERA and 1.79 WHIP while striking out 19 and walking 11 in 20 2/3 innings pitched. But he did have an elite 42% strikeout rate in the minors last year before his big-league call-up, and he will try to find success as a starter in his first full major league season in 2022. Detmers is worth taking a chance on in AL-only leagues, but fantasy managers in mixed leagues should merely have him on their watch list for now.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
