3 years agoDetroit Tigers first baseman Spencer Torkelson will make the Opening Day roster, according to the Detroit Free Press, and will likely assume the starting first base job. Torkelson is the best prospect in the Tigers farm system, as per MLB.com, and has hit .280 with a .406 OBP and .846 OPS in 25 at-bats during Spring Training. There's a lot of hype surrounding the 22-year-old after he was drafted first overall in the 2020 draft and went on to slash .267/.383/.552 with 30 HRs in his 2021 pro debut. Torkelson's ADP is currently 250, but he has a great chance of outplaying his draft cost. Steamer projects the rookie to hit .250 with 27 HRs, four stolen bases, 71 runs, and 75 RBI in 130 games, so fantasy managers who took a shot on him earlier in the draft season should feel like they got a steal.--Spencer Seguin - RotoBaller
