Kyle Hendricks Named Opening Day Starter
3 years agoChicago Cubs manager David Ross announced on Saturday that starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks will start Opening Day, according to Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic. This will mark his third straight Opening Day start. Hendricks has been known for his consistency without overpowering stuff but struggled last season. Across 181 innings, the right-hander had a 4.77 ERA with a 16.7 K%, 5.6 BB%, and career highs in HR/9 (1.54) and WHIP (1.35). Hendricks doesn't offer much fantasy value, especially if his ERA is that high, so it may be a good idea for fantasy managers to stay away from the 32-year-old, even with an ADP of 280. ATC doesn't sense a big bounce back, projecting him for a 4.57 ERA, with just 130 strikeouts and a 1.28 WHIP over 181 innings.
