William Contreras Could See Time At Third Base And Outfield
3 years agoAtlanta Braves catcher William Contreras could play third base and outfield occasionally this season, according to manager Brian Snitker. The young backstop has never played another position besides behind the plate, but the club has good depth at catcher with Travis d'Arnaud and Manny Pina on the roster as well. Contreras slashed .215/.303/.399 last season with eight home runs and no stolen bases over 52 games. Although he did hit .290 with a .873 OPS across 44 Triple-A games during 2021, so he's shown flashes. Contreras doesn't have much fantasy value, as his 632 ADP suggests, given the uncertainty of playing time. However, he could see that rise now that he's made the opening day roster and with this recent development. If Contreras begins the year swinging a hot bat, fantasy managers can make a move for him on the waiver wire.
