Luke Weaver To Start Season In The Bullpen
3 years agoArizona Diamondbacks right-hander Luke Weaver (thumb) will begin the year in the bullpen, according to manager Torey Lovullo. Weaver started two Spring Training games, pitching to an 8.31 ERA over 4.1 innings, but left his last start after experiencing a blister on his thumb. The good news is he'll be ready for Opening Day, though won't begin in the starting rotation. The 28-year-old had a modest season last year, posting a 4.25 ERA, 22.5 K%, and 1.19 WHIP over 13 starts, a season after he pitched to a 6.58 ERA. Weaver already had little fantasy value, but this news will erase any value that was left. Even with an ADP of 433, fantasy managers can find better options later in the draft.
