Brandon Nimmo Receives Cortisone Injection
3 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (neck) received a cortisone-type injection in his neck and remains questionable for Opening Day on Thursday against the Washington Nationals. Manager Buck Showalter remains optimistic and said, "We should get good results." Nimmo was held out of Grapefruit League action on Monday and Tuesday due to neck soreness. If the 29-year-old is forced to miss a few games to open the regular season, the Mets could use either Mark Canha or Starling Marte to fill in in center field. The Mets are having outfielder Travis Jankowski travel with them to begin the season as an insurance policy. Nimmo has played over 100 games in a season just once in six MLB seasons, but he's an excellent on-base asset in fantasy when he's healthy.
