3 years agoThere is no timetable for San Francisco Giants infielder Tommy La Stella (Achilles), but he says he's day-to-day. Scar tissue is likely contributing to his Achilles discomfort. There were thoughts of using him as the designated hitter to begin the season because he has been swinging the bat well, but it made more sense to have him fully recover first. La Stella had surgery on his Achilles last October and was delayed in spring training. The 33-year-old will be an option to play some third base early this year with Evan Longoria (finger) sidelined, but it will be Wilmer Flores getting the nod at the hot corner on Opening Day on Friday against Miami Marlins right-hander Sandy Alcantara.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
