Cooper Hummel Leading Off For Arizona Friday
3 years agoArizona Diamondbacks outfielder Cooper Hummel is the designated hitter and is serving as the team's leadoff hitter for their second game against the San Diego Padres on Friday night against left-hander Sean Manaea. Outfielder Daulton Varsho, who hit leadoff on Opening Day, will move to the six spot with a lefty on the hill. Hummel didn't start on Thursday but entered the game as a pinch-hitter and drew a walk. The 27-year-old switch-hitter will be making the first start of his major league career after he hit .311/.432/.546 with 12 home runs, 52 RBI and 70 runs scored with Triple-A Nashville and Triple-A Reno in 92 games in the minors last year. Hummel will be a low-cost deep sleeper in DFS on Friday night.
