Josh Rogers Likely To Start Monday
3 years agoWith Washington Nationals starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez (neck) now doubtful to make his season debut on Monday at the Atlanta Braves, left-hander Josh Rogers is the likeliest candidate to take the bump in Sanchez's absence. Sanchez has been dealing with stiffness in his next the last few days, and the 38-year-old could require a stint on the injured list early on. The right-hander didn't pitch in the majors at all last year and wasn't any good in 2020 for the Nats, so he belongs on the waiver wire in mixed leagues. Rogers lost out on a rotation spot to begin the year to Joan Adon, but he could wind up in the rotation anyway thanks to Sanchez's injury. The 27-year-old has a 5.55 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and a weak 12% strikeout rate in just 14 big-league outings (nine starts) in three major league seasons, so he won't be a high-priority addition in fantasy leagues.
