Brandin Cooks Gets High Praise From Pep Hamilton
3 years agoIn speaking with local reporters Monday, Houston Texans offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton commended wide receiver Brandin Cooks for his ability to dictate the team's offensive strategy. "He brings a certain level of paranoia for our opponents and that's going to open up the opportunity for us to balance out our attack," Hamilton said. Houston undoubtedly wants to improve their ground game, but with one of the worst running back committees in the NFL, they may have to depend on Cooks more than ever to sustain drives. In 2021, Cooks finished with a team-high 90 catches, 1,037 receiving yards and six touchdowns. He accumulated 459 receiving yards on third downs, the third-most in the NFL. Houston went against many expectations by committing to quarterback Davis Mills and not trading Cooks, and their continued rapport together could make for a sneaky stack in 2022. Cooks, as always, is expected to have immense standalone value relative to where he will be drafted.
