Irv Smith Jr. Right On Schedule
3 years agoMinnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell said that tight end Irv Smith Jr. (knee) is "right on schedule" in his recovery, and the Vikings aren't going to rush him as he returns from his knee injury. The 23-year-old may be held out of workouts this spring as a result after he missed all of last season with a meniscus injury that required surgery. However, Smith is on track to be the team's primary pass-catching tight end in 2022 if he's fully healthy. Tyler Conklin is no longer around, and only Johnny Mundt, Ben Ellefson and Zach Davidson remain in Minnesota's tight end room. In two seasons with the Vikings, Smith has 66 receptions on 90 targets for 676 yards and seven touchdowns, and he could be a great value pick at TE this upcoming season.
