Irv Smith Jr. Expects To Be Full-Go For Training Camp
3 years agoMinnesota Vikings tight end Irv Smith Jr. (knee) said he expects to be full-go by training camp this summer. "That's the plan. I wouldn't put an exact 'this percent' or 'this percent,' because every day I'm getting stronger and faster," Smith said. He's easing into on-field work and wasn't running routes in the open portion of workouts earlier this week. Head coach Kevin O'Connell said the team would be smart about Smith's workload this offseason after he missed all of the 2021 season with a meniscus injury in his knee. Tyler Conklin is now with the Jets, so the 23-year-old Smith should have a big role in O'Connell's offense this season if he's healthy. Smith should come at a decent price and could be a nice TE1 value in 2022.
