Shohei Ohtani Getting First Breather Of The Season
3 years agoLos Angeles Angels designated hitter Shohei Ohtani will get his first day off of the season on Thursday against the Cleveland Guardians. Ohtani gave up two runs over five innings on the mound in the win over Cleveland on Wednesday while also going 3-for-5 at the plate with a double, RBI and a run scored. Last year's American League MVP is hitting .238 (19-for-80) with three home runs, 10 RBI, 14 runs scored and three stolen bases in the first 19 games of the season and is a must-start each and every time he's in the Angels starting lineup. Mike Trout will take DH duties on Thursday and hit third against Guardians right-hander Cal Quantrill, with Brandon Marsh starting in center field and hitting second.
