Titans Offered A.J. Brown $16 Million Per Year
3 years agoNew Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown said it "wasn't my fault" that the Tennessee Titans traded him during the first round of Thursday's NFL draft. "I wanted to stay, but the deal they offered was a low offer. The deal they offered wasn't even $20 million a year," Brown said. He said the Titans offer topped out at $16 million per year with incentives that would have driven it up to a $20 million average. Brown was entering the final year of his rookie contract that would have paid him around $4 million this year. The 24-year-old had 63 catches for 869 yards and five touchdowns in 13 games last year after topping 1,000 yards in his first two seasons in the NFL. He has accumulated 24 touchdowns and averaged 16.2 yards per catch over his first three seasons, which ranks eighth and third, respectively, among all receivers in that span. Brown could be even better as a WR1 in Philly, while his presence makes quarterback Jalen Hurts more intriguing as a QB1.
