Ji-Man Choi Going On Injured List
3 years agoThe Tampa Bay Rays are placing first baseman Ji-Man Choi (elbow) on the 10-day injured list on Sunday with loose bodies in his right elbow. The move is retroactive to April 28. In a corresponding move, the Rays called up infielder Isaac Paredes. It's unknown if Choi will need to undergo arthroscopic surgery to remove the loose bodies from his elbow, but it's definitely a possibility. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect the 30-year-old to come off the injured list when he's eligible on May 8. With Choi sidelined, Yandy Diaz and Harold Ramirez will split time as the primary first basemen for the Rays. Ramirez is at the cold corner on Sunday and is hitting fifth against Minnesota Twins right-hander Josh Winder. Choi was off to a great start this year, going 15-for-42 with two home runs, 10 RBI and seven runs scored in his first 15 games.
