Chiefs Apply UFA Tender On Melvin Ingram
3 years agoThe Kansas City Chiefs applied the rarely used unrestricted free-agent tender to outside linebacker Melvin Ingram on Monday. It means that if Ingram signs with a new team before July 22 or the first day of training camp, he would count towards the compensatory pick formula. If Ingram doesn't sign by then, the Chiefs would have exclusive negotiating rights. The pass-rusher spent the first nine years of his career with the Los Angeles Chargers and was a Pro Bowler from 2017-19. He spent last year with the Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers, combining for 25 tackles (12 solo), four tackles for loss, 11 QB hits, two sacks and a forced fumble in 15 games (seven starts). Depending on where he lands, the 33-year-old could land in a rotation role on defense.
