Mike Clevinger Activated, Making Season Debut Tuesday
3 years agoThe San Diego Padres reinstated starting pitcher Mike Clevinger (knee) from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday and optioned left-hander Raymond Kerr to Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move. Clevinger was working his way back from Tommy John surgery this spring before spraining his right knee in spring training. The 31-year-old right-hander allowed just two runs while striking out 15 in 8 2/3 innings over three minor league rehab starts. Clevinger has big-time fantasy upside when healthy, but he's unlikely to go deep into his first start of the season on Tuesday against his former team, the Cleveland Guardians. In his final rehab game, Clevinger went only 3 2/3 innings and threw 67 pitches.
