Miguel Sano Needs Surgery On Knee
3 years agoMinnesota Twins first baseman Miguel Sano (knee) will undergo surgery later this week to fix a torn meniscus in his knee, according to manager Rocco Baldelli. The Twins won't have a timetable for his return until after the surgery is complete, but it's obvious that the right-handed slugger will be out for an extended amount of time. The 29-year-old's knee issue had been bothering him over the last week and he had played in just one of the team's previous five games before landing on the injured list. Sano was hitting a measly .093 with a 32.3% strikeout rate in 65 plate appearances before going on the IL, so he won't be guaranteed regular playing time whenever he's able to return. In the meantime, expect the Twins to go with a platoon at first base between Luis Arraez and infield prospect Jose Miranda.
