3 years agoSan Diego Padres right-hander Mike Clevinger was impressive in his first start of the season against his former team, the Cleveland Guardians, in the first game of a doubleheader on Wednesday. Clevinger was making his return after Tommy John surgery and a knee sprain suffered in spring training, and he allowed three runs on four hits while walking three and striking out four in 4 2/3 innings for a no-decision. He lobbied manager Bob Melvin to continue going, but the Padres decided to pull him at 95 pitches. It was a solid debut for the 31-year-old after coming off Tommy John surgery, and Clevinger has ace potential for fantasy managers as he settles back into the Padres rotation after a long layoff.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
