Diontae Johnson Playing His Final Season In Pittsburgh?
3 years agoThe Pittsburgh Steelers have always been the team that isn't willing to overpay for wide receivers, which makes it likely that contract-year wide receiver Diontae Johnson will sign elsewhere after the 2022 season, in the opinion of The Athletic's Mark Kaboly. The Steelers will present a number to Johnson at some point in the next few months, and they are unlikely to move off of it. Johnson was a first-time Pro Bowler last year and had a career-high 107 receptions for 1,161 yards and eight touchdowns on 169 targets over 16 games. He'll remain the team's No. 1 receiving threat, but quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has retired, leaving either Mitchell Trubisky or rookie Kenny Pickett to start under center. That will lower Johnson's fantasy ceiling and floor in 2022.
