Cardinals Activate Edmundo Sosa From COVID Injured List
3 years agoThe St. Louis Cardinals activated shortstop Edmundo Sosa from the COVID-19 injured list on Thursday and optioned infielder Kramer Robertson to Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding move. Sosa has been in quarantine for a week after testing positive for the virus, but he could see the majority of playing time at shortstop in St. Louis upon his return after the team demoted the struggling Paul DeJong to the minors earlier in the week. Brendan Donovan is starting at the 6 and is hitting ninth on Thursday against Baltimore Orioles right-hander Bryan Baker, but Sosa will have a chance to supplant Donovan as the guy at shortstop now that he's healthy. In 113 games last season, Sosa had six home runs, 27 RBI, four stolen bases and a .271 batting average in 326 plate appearances.
