Marcus Semien Getting A Breather Thursday
3 years agoTexas Rangers second baseman Marcus Semien is not in the starting lineup on Thursday against the Kansas City Royals. After a record-setting year last year in Toronto, Semien has had a rough start to his first season in Texas. He has gone hitless in his last 16 at-bats with five strikeouts in the last four games to drop his season line to .165/.228/.217. Semien is still searching for his first home run of the year after clearing the fences a career-high 45 times in 2021, and he's struck out 25 times in 127 plate appearances. Andy Ibanez is starting at second base and is hitting ninth on Thursday, while Eli White is starting in left field and batting eighth against Royals right-hander Jon Heasley. Hopefully, Semien will get his bat heated up sooner than later.
