Jake Cronenworth Taking The Day Off
3 years agoSan Diego Padres second baseman Jake Cronenworth is taking the day off on Thursday in the series finale against the Philadelphia Phillies. It will be his first game off of the season. The 28-year-old has gone 4-for-28 in his last six games, so it's a good time for his first day off. Cronenworth has had a tough start to the 2022 campaign, slashing just .206/.301/.319 with two home runs, 15 RBI and 18 runs scored in 37 games played. Veteran Robinson Cano will get the start at the keystone and will bat sixth on Thursday against Phillies right-hander Kyle Gibson. Cano is 2-for-9 with a strikeout in his first two games with the Friars and was hitting .195 with a homer and three RBI in 12 games with the New York Mets earlier this year before he was released.
