Nick Madrigal To Start Rehab Assignment Saturday
3 years agoChicago Cubs second baseman Nick Madrigal (back) will start a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa on Saturday. Madrigal has been out of action since May 10 with back tightness, but he is getting closer to a return. In 23 games before his injury, he was hitting just .203/.250/.241 with no home runs, two RBI, five runs scored and one stolen base in 84 plate appearances. Still, Madrigal is expected to see most of the playing time at the keystone once he's activated from the injured list, which means Andrelton Simmons will see his playing time reduced once Madrigal is back. Simmons isn't much of a fantasy asset to begin with, as he's hitting just .231 with no homers, four RBI and one steal in only nine games.
