Matt Manning Shut Down For Foreseeable Future
3 years agoDetroit Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said that starting pitcher Matt Manning (biceps) reported biceps tendonitis and will not throw for the "foreseeable future" while seeking further evaluation. Manning is just now admitting to an arm-related injury after leaving his most recent minor league rehab start after 1 2/3 innings with Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday. The 24-year-old initially landed on the injured list with a shoulder injury, and he hasn't pitched in a big-league game since April 16 against the Royals. He allowed two earned runs while walking none and striking out four over eight innings in his only two starts for Detroit this year, and he has a 1.74 ERA and 13 K's in 10 1/3 innings over his four minor league rehab starts. However, there is no current timetable for him to resume his rehab assignment.
