Cubs Hope Seiya Suzuki Will Avoid Injured List
3 years agoChicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki (finger) suffered a sprained left ring finger while sliding into second base in Thursday's blowout loss to the Cincinnati Reds, but the Cubs are hoping he will avoid the injured list. Manager David Ross said the team will have a better idea after Suzuki is re-evaluated on Saturday after the team's Friday off day. "I just want to see how it is tomorrow, take it day by day," Suzuki said. "But I want to be back out there as soon as possible." The 27-year-old Japanese rookie has had a solid first 40 games in the majors, slashing .241/.342/.431 with four home runs, 21 RBI, 20 runs scored and two stolen bases in 161 plate appearances. Hopefully fantasy managers will be able to get him back into their lineups this weekend.
