Matt Corral Away For Personal Reasons
2 years agoCarolina Panthers rookie quarterback Matt Corral left the team on Wednesday due to a tragedy in the family, according to head coach Matt Rhule. Rhule told Corral to take all the time he needed away from organized team activities. The Panthers have liked what they've seen early on from Corral during offseason workouts. The 23-year-old will lose some valuable developmental work while away from the team, but he's still expected to compete with incumbent Sam Darnold for the starting job under center in training camp this summer. The third-rounder will spend much of his offseason work focusing on his ability to process defensive looks while calling plays.
