Jonathan India To Begin Rehab Assignment Tuesday
2 years agoCincinnati Reds second baseman Jonathan India (hamstring) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday. The timeline for India to return to the big leagues could be June 17 against the Milwaukee Brewers. India has been going full speed in batting practice for a while and is ready to go after a clean MRI exam. The 25-year-old hasn't played for the Reds since April 30, so he'll need a lengthy rehab assignment before coming off the injured list. Once he's back, India will resume starting duties at second base. Last year's National League Rookie of the Year was hitting a strong .295/.311/.341 with no home runs, three RBI and five runs scored in 11 games before his injury. Alejo Lopez and Matt Reynolds have been sharing playing time at the keystone of late for Cincy.
