Baker Mayfield Excused From Mandatory Minicamp
2 years agoCleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield (shoulder) has been excused from mandatory minicamp. Mayfield also stayed away from voluntary organized team activities while the Browns attempt to trade him this offseason. Even if he weren't a trade candidate, Mayfield wouldn't be participating in offseason workouts while he rehabs from surgery to fix a torn labrum in his left shoulder that he played through for most of last season. The Carolina Panthers and the Seattle Seahawks are the two most likely destinations for Mayfield, but the Browns will likely have to eat most of his $18.86 million salary for 2022 in order to deal him. Cleveland could also decide to hang onto Mayfield as insurance in the event that Deshaun Watson is suspended this year.
