No Major Progress For Royce Lewis
2 years agoMinnesota Twins shortstop prospect Royce Lewis (knee) is healing but hasn't made significant progress from a bone bruise in his right knee that landed him on the injured list. Lewis hasn't had a second MRI exam as of Tuesday. The 23-year-old went on the IL on May 30 after crashing into the outfield wall, and he has yet to resume baseball activities. At the earliest, he could be looking at a return to Minnesota later this month or early in July. Lewis was seeing more playing time with Carlos Correa on the COVID injured list, and he took advantage of the extra at-bats, going 12-for-40 (.300) with two home runs, five RBI and five runs scored in his first 12 major league games. When healthy, Lewis figures to serve in a super-utility role for the Twins.
