Nathan Eovaldi Will Make Next Start
2 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi (hip) will make his next scheduled start after leaving his last outing on Wednesday following five innings with right hip tightness. The Red Sox think the hip tightness is the reason for Eovaldi's drop in velocity; he averaged 94 mph with his four-seamer after averaging 96.7 mph on his heater in his first 11 starts. The 32-year-old right-hander didn't have his usual high-90s velocity against the Los Angeles Angels and the Red Sox don't think it's a serious issue, but it's something to keep an eye on heading into his next start at home next week against the Oakland Athletics. Eovaldi has been strong this year with a 3.16 ERA and 1.09 WHIP while striking out 72 and walking only 10 in 68 1/3 innings over 12 starts.
