2 years agoAs expected, the Tampa Bay Rays placed catcher Mike Zunino (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list with left shoulder inflammation on Friday and recalled catcher Rene Pinto from Triple-A Durham in a corresponding move. Zunino hasn't hit much this year and had gone 2-for-24 in his last eight contests, so perhaps some time off will be a good thing for the 31-year-old slugger. Overall, he's hitting just .148/.195/.304 with five home runs, 16 RBI and seven runs scored in 123 plate appearances and 36 games. With Zunino sidelined for at least 10 days, Pinto will serve as the primary backup catcher behind Francisco Mejia for Tampa.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
