Jose Trevino Dealing With Back Tightness
2 years agoUpdating a previous report, New York Yankees catcher Jose Trevino (back) was scratched from the starting lineup on Sunday against the Chicago Cubs due to back tightness, which he played through on Saturday night. Trevino is available off the bench on Sunday, which suggests it's not a very serious injury. The 29-year-old backstop could be available again on Tuesday after the team's Monday off day. Trevino has been great for the Yankees in 39 games, as he's hitting .309/.356/.505 with an .861 OPS, five home runs, 18 RBI, 16 runs scored and a stolen base in 104 plate appearances. Kyle Higashioka is taking over behind the plate and is hitting eighth on Sunday against Cubs right-hander Keegan Thompson. Higashioka should be avoided for daily lineups.
