2 years agoThe Chicago White Sox designated outfielder/designated hitter Yermin Mercedes for assignment on Sunday amid a flurry of roster moves. The team also placed left-hander Aaron Bummer (lat) on the 15-day injured list with a left lat strain, optioned right-hander Davis Martin to Triple-A Charlotte, recalled left-hander Tanner Banks from Charlotte and selected the contract of catcher Seby Zavala from Charlotte. Mercedes, an early season sensation last year, was hitting just .230/.376/.425 with four home runs, 13 RBI, 14 runs scored and five stolen bases in 25 games for the White Sox. If he's not picked up by another team, he could return to the White Sox and return to Charlotte.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
