2 years agoArizona Diamondbacks shortstop Nick Ahmed (shoulder) will have surgery on his shoulder, and manager Torey Lovullo "remains hopeful" that Ahmed can return at some point this year. However, a second-half return isn't guaranteed for Ahmed. The 32-year-old shortstop was placed on the injured list on May 17 and was recently shut down with renewed pain in his right shoulder. In just 17 games for the D-backs this year, Ahmed was hitting .231/.259/.442 with three home runs, seven RBI and seven runs scored in 54 plate appearances. You can probably drop him at this point in mixed leagues. Geraldo Perdomo has been playing every day at shortstop in Arizona in Ahmed's absence and should continue doing so.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
