2 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Jack Flaherty (shoulder) will make his season debut on Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. It was believed that Flaherty would make one more minor league start this week before rejoining St. Louis' rotation, but that won't happen. Instead, the 26-year-old will get a good matchup against the lowly Pirates, but Flaherty only reached 58 pitches in his last rehab start, so he could be on a short leash in his debut. The good news is that the right-hander struck out nine and allowed only one baserunner in seven innings in his two rehab starts, and he needs to be rostered in all fantasy leagues moving forward. Flaherty went 9-2 last year with a 3.22 ERA and 1.06 WHIP in 78 1/3 innings and has the potential to be a strong No. 2 starter for fantasy managers when healthy.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
