2 years agoThe Texas Rangers activated right-hander Jose Leclerc (elbow) from the 60-day injured list on Thursday and optioned left-hander Kolby Allard to Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move. The team also activated outfielder Steele Walker from the COVID-19 injured list and optioned him to Round Rock. Leclerc threw just two innings in 2020 because of a shoulder ailment and missed all of last season after having Tommy John surgery in March. In nine rehab innings with Double-A Frisco and Round Rock, he allowed five earned runs while walking five and striking out 11. The 28-year-old had a combined 26 saves for Texas in 2018 and 2019, but with Joe Barlow currently entrenched as the team's closer, Leclerc will likely be in some sort of low-leverage setup role initially.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
