Isaiah Spiller Has Clear Path To No. 2 Job
2 years agoLos Angeles Chargers fourth-round rookie running back Isaiah Spiller has a clear path to claiming the RB2 spot behind starter Austin Ekeler this year. Spiller will be battling with Joshua Kelley and Larry Rountree III in training camp this summer, but if he performs up to his potential, Spiller could be Ekeler's clear backup entering the regular season. The 20-year-old from Texas A&M is elusive as a runner and also has good enough hands to contribute in the passing game as a change of pace for Ekeler in LA's backfield. Spiller is the clear target as Ekeler's handcuff near the end of fantasy drafts, and he'd become extremely interesting if he were forced into more substantial playing time in the event of an Ekeler injury this year.
