Chris Godwin Could Open On PUP List
2 years agoTampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin (knee) has done well in his recovery and rehab from a torn ACL, but the team refuses to say when they expect him back, and The Athletic's Greg Auman wouldn't be surprised if Godwin opened the regular season on the Physically Unable to Perform list. If that happens, Godwin would miss the first six weeks of the season, and Russell Gage would be the clear No 2. pass-catcher behind Mike Evans. Tampa has made a big investment in Godwin long term, so the priority will be to get him back to 100% rather than getting him back quickly. Because of the uncertainty around Godwin's availability to open the season, he's become a risky WR3 in fantasy drafts. Meanwhile, Gage's stock is rising as an upside WR4/flex.
