2 years agoThe New York Mets are showing early interest in Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Luis Castillo given all the injuries to their starting rotation in the first half of the season. The Mets presumably would have interest in other starters, too, including Castillo's teammate Tyler Mahle and Oakland Athletics right-hander Frankie Montas. The word is the Minnesota Twins and San Diego Padres are also in on Castillo, who has another year before free agency. Despite pitching for the lowly Reds, Castillo has been solid for fantasy managers with a 3.71 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP while walking 18 and striking out 49 in 51 innings over nine starts. The 29-year-old got a late start to the season due to a right shoulder injury, but he's healthy now and would be more attractive in fantasy pitching for a contender.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
